After viewing The Challenger Disaster on The Learning Channel I was moved and compelled to create this Tribute page to the brave Challenger Crew. This was a most tragic event in American history, and without a doubt the worst disaster in space exploration to date. It was not only a terrible loss of life and the destruction of a United States space vehicle that was the main effect of this dreadful occurrence, but the disillusionment that it created in the American public for NASA.

The U.S. Space Shuttle Challenger, was, at that time the spacecraft with the most space flights in history, it was scheduled to launch on January 28, 1986. After three delays, the craft took off. To the horror of hundreds of spectators and crew on the ground, the Challenger exploded 73 seconds later in a spiraling plume of smoke. All seven crew members were killed.
